5 Lovely Things on Monday

On this Memorial Day I blog with a heavy heart.  This post is for the families that have touched my life and are leading a courageous fight against what seems impossible odds.  With that being said, today's loveliness focuses on INSPIRATION...

{1} Gussy's Pretty Things Yesterday
& my inspiration for Monday's Lovely Things :)
Photo cred: Gussy herself
{2} Being a Pediatric Nurse
It is a privilege to be a nurse; you are accepted into a family
during their darkest hours and happiest of triumphs.
~~~
Rawsi Williams said it best: To do what nobody else will do, a way that nobody else can do,
in spite of all we go through; is to be a nurse.
{3} Codi
This is the most inspiring young lady I've ever met.
And while she was only 20 when she lost her fight to cancer,
I can say- without a doubt- that she lived a fuller life than most adults.
{4} Art Therapy
See how art can heal :)
{5} Two amazing ladies who happen to be nurses
(& my roomies!!)
You will not find two better nurses for the "bald kids"
Hope you all had a good long weekend.
ciao,
lucy
MIA pour Une Minute
Just a quick hello to let you know that as of tomorrow I'm going to be sans computer for a bit.  But hopefully within a few days I'll be the proud new owner of a MacBook Pro- ahhh :)
Truthfully, this will give me some time to wrap up some lingering projects & work on my {Sea of Lovely} ideas.  This past weekend I put some hours into my Indie Workshop course that yielded some exciting progress.  In addition, my artsy sister Jenna has come up with a prototype for my logo- woot, woot- things are coming along very nicely.
 So until next Monday I bid you all aideu,
♥lucy
5 Lovely Things on Monday
{1} Aunt Joanie
On Saturday, May 14th we celebrated my great aunt Joan's life.
She led a courageous eight-year fight against ovarian cancer & will be missed by many.
I snagged this book for 50% @ a closeout sale--
can't wait to dive in!
{3} LIVING IN NORTH TACOMA!!
Have I mentioned that I LOVE residing in Old Town?
It means that I can walk down to Ruston Way for a twilight stroll any day of the week.
{sigh of delight}
{3} Just A Boy
I rediscovered Angus & Julia Stone in my music library last week.
Not only is their chill music lovely but the video is an artistic delight!
{4} Something Borrowed
Based on a novel by Emily Giffin (my favorite!)
The boys in this romcom are quite lovely and
it's the only Kate Hudson movie I can stomach.
{5} My roommate Jade attempting to swim laps.
No picture needed-- use your imagination.
Let's just say that I felt like I was teaching "Floaters" again ;)
Enjoy the sun tomorrow- hopefully it's out.
Wednesdays with Willis
This past weekend Willis & I had the house all to ourselves. And while we enjoyed the tranquility Willis was none too pleased that I spent a large portion of our QT blogging & sewing.
Although poor Willis was bored to tears I'm happy to report that my girlfriend Kristin's baby gift is almost done! The timing could not be any more perfect as her little guys is due May 19th (that's tomorrow!). I'm very excited to share the finished project with my readers as soon as she gets it!!
Cheap Art
A while back I was inspired by Young House Love to make some "cheap" art while using up things I already had.
First, I must introduce one of the gems that IKEA has to offer; it's called the RIBBA frame. They come in all shapes & sizes to fit your DIY art-- not to mention they're affordable and don't look cheap.
Exhibit A:
{Scrapbook Paper Prints}
I apologize for the poor picture quality--
not the best lighting in that hallway
Exhibit B:
{Calendar Prints from Years Gone By!}
Botanical prints circa 2009 :)
Well that is all I have on this lovely Saturday morning. I have family in town and am looking forward to spending some quality time with them. Hope you all have a fruitful weekend!
cheers,
Wednesdays with Willis
{Willard/Will-i-Am/Pookie/Big Pook/Will}
If you know me you know Willis. And I've decided he is cool enough to be blogged about-- don't judge. Truth be told, I have so many pictures of my vertically-challenged fella that I feel compelled to show them {him} off.
Our motley crew--Will & his ladies
Here's to hoping you enjoy these light-hearted posts that I plan to do at least ever other week!
cheers,
♥lucy & willis
